Can anyone tell me where I might find downloads for the above mentioned
scanner which will make the machine completely compatible with my new OS, W.
Vista?

The scanner operates in the copy and file modes, but will not connect with
the email client stating incompatability problems and no mailer being
installed. I have tried to find the correct fixes from Epson and have
applied the one for the Epson Perfection 1670 machine, but the site tells me
that if the 1660 is not listed, (and it's not), then it is not compatible
with Vista. And yet most of the functions work, exception being using Smart
Panel's email thingy.

Any help will be gratefully received.

For some reason, you can only get drivers for the 1660 from
www.epson.co.uk. I had given up and bought a new scanner becaause
Epson said they were not supporting the 1660 under Vista. Just for
giggles, I checked the UK site yesterday, and there are drivers
available. They say they are version 5.7F. I am not sure if the UK
drivers will even install on a US version of Vista, but I can't see

Did you unplug the scanner first? Always install USB drivers without
the device plugged in. If that doesnt help, I am not sure. Good luck

to download some drivers from their Canadian site. I'll try that. Seems a
bit like Ford Motor Company stopping supply of parts for cars over 4 years
old when they bring out new models. Very irritating for the consumer but
good for money making for the manufacturers, I feel.
