Default HP 4890 resolution problem (35mm slides) - 12-02-2006 , 02:15 AM

This scanner has 4800dpi hardware, but I cant tell the difference in slides
scanned at 200dpi (the default) or at 4800dpi (the max). The scans take
incrementally longer time as I increase the resolution, so it seems to be
scanning more pixels. The .jpg output viewed on my display or printed is
very fuzzy, whether I scan at 200dpi or 4800dpi.. The slides are in good
focus as examined with a hand viewer.

This is a very nice scanner and has a moving light source in the lid for
uniform lighting when using the transparency adapter which takes 16 35mm
slides at a time. It has a 4800 dpi CCD sensor.
