Need some help with older HP 3C Setup -

I have mint condition Epson 3C longbed scanner that I'm trying to set
up with a windows 2000 machine. This is a SCSI connect scanner and I
have an adaptec pci scsi card that I used with this scanner on another
machine. It's been sitting for maybe 6 months (untouched) and I
decided to set it up on my archive machine. So all the hardware is
installed, but W2K hangs on boot. I can boot into safe mode with
networking and when I go to device manager I see that there's a
problem with the driver. I downloaded the correct driver/software
bundle for this machine 2 days ago from HP. It expands into about 80+
files (thats OK) and there's a Disk 1, 2, 3, and something else. When
I check the driver and do a search, I'm told that I have a suitable
driver installed but the system has found another driver. Neither one
works or will let me boot other than in safe mode, and they both show
the same error. The files I DL'd from HP are deskscan 2.9.
I'm pretty confused and need someone to tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Oh, BTW, I did select "other" when asked what interface card would be
used, so it's not an adaptec issue... or is it?
Thanks. |
