Default Scanned photos have "noise" on them from HP 4100 scanner - 12-04-2006 , 09:02 PM

For the last few months I've noticed that when I scan a photo using my
HP4100 scanner (old I know) I get either horizontal or vertical lines
that appear on the scanned image.

I tried using the HP driver as well as the WIA (Windows XP) and used
various DPIs to see if the lines went away with less or more DPIs. I
tried 75, 100, 150, 300, 600, and 750 DPI and although the higher
resolution seems to reduce the line, they are still there.

Do I need to get a new scanner or is there some "cleaning" on the old
scanner or ???

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!!

Thanks,

Bob
