Default Recording CDs - 03-01-2005 , 11:37 AM

Couldn't think of more appropriate groups to ask:

In writing my classical music to MP3 CDRs on the combo drive in our new
iBook, I find that some of the music suffers from "dropouts" for lack of
a better term. All track bitrates are at least 128 kbps, and many are
160, and all importing and writing was done in iTunes. When played by
iTunes, the music works just fine.

In the CD player, though, the music will suddenly make a LOUD snapping
sound and then be replaced by a static sound for varying lengths of
time. Usually, the music continues afterward, but sometimes the next
track will begin after the static disappears.

The CD player is a Sony D-NE500 like this:

The media I'm using is a no-name brand I got for free after rebate last
Christmas season.

I'm just wondering if anyone out there can suggest some reasons why this
is happening. Some of the possible causes I'm considering:

€ CD write is too fast

€ Cheap media

€ Poor resolution on the part of the CD player (is there any way to
improve this?)

Can anyone knowledgeable comment on this? TIA for anything helpful.
