What are you trying to read? A new/blank disc? One which was written
with that drive but apparently did not 'take'? The message (I could do
without the ad) says that the disc is not recognized as having anything
written on it - so, what do you think is written on it?

Guy here says it only read DVD's and writes to cd's. I see Mike Richter is
back here again. Time for my advice is seems it's needed now.

Well when I do a search on the web for that model, it is a

CD-RW/DVD-rom. In other words, it burns CDs only, but reads DVDs. Thats
why it will not burn a DVD.

Well when I do a search on the web for that model, it is a CD-RW/DVD-rom. In
other words, it burns CDs only, but reads DVDs. Thats why it will not burn a
DVD.

I am sure glad I came here. The other forums I went to said it was RW.

number on burner matches paperwork.

thanks Martin, that was the exact page I pulled up uin search, was
trying to figure out the + and - combo part.

some were dvdrw and some were not?

Not that model of drive. All were combo drives. CD read and write, DVD

read only. If you go to LiteOn's site, the combo drives model numbers
start withLSC-24xx. Slim line internal DVD burners have a totally
different model number. something like xxx-831.
