I have a 3 or 4 year old Olympus digital camera that uses Smart Media
cards. None of the local stores sell these cards anymore. Are these
cards obsolete? Why?

Just my luck. I spent a considerable amount of money for that camera
and it appears to be obsolete already.

Dont bother telling me to check out Ebay. I dont use that ripoff
website.

You can still find them.

Smart Media cards have a maximum capacity of 128 Mb. The
newer formats are smaller and still allow for capacities
several times larger. That is especially important as
cameras have sensors with more pixels. The cards are
obsolete with respect to new cameras. Pretty soon, you may
be only able to get used ones.

I agree on e-bay, but Amazon lists offerings of new and used
goods from third-party vendors. If you order through Amazon
and the merchandise isn't as advertised, Amazon will refund
your money. That worked for me when a third-party vendor
failed to deliver the camera at all.
