Default 3ccd or High Definition - 05-06-2007 , 10:43 PM

I am considering buying a new digital video camera, and was wondering of
whether a 3CCD or a High Definition HD camera provides the sharpest image?
Also, what is the best format for easy editing???

Cheers
Gail

Gail,

Might I suggest you take a serious look at the new Canon HV20, a single CMOS
HDV camcorder available for a bit below US$1000. Several of us who have used
and owned 3 CCD HDV camcorders selling for $3000 and above have been buying
and using these little Canon HV20s, and mixing the footage with our 3 CCD
HDV cameras since the results are so outstanding. In fact, several owners of
3CCD cameras have reported ***replacing*** their 3 CCD HDV camcorders with
the HV20.....

Do a Google search on HV20 to see the reviews and comments.

Well of course they are not mutually exclusive. A 3-chip HD camcorder
would be your best bet if you can get one in your price range. Beyond
that, a single CMOS chip HD might be the way to go.
