Default Question / Burning cue/bin files to DVD with Nero - 12-22-2006 , 11:14 PM

I was wondering if it were possible to burn an image file(cue/bin) to DVD's using Nero Burning Rom.

If so how do you get it to go to DVD. ? I have been trying it with the version 7 of Nero, but it attempts to write it to CD only.

If Nero can't do it is there other software that can ?

Thanks for the help.

Paul

Yer Welcome:

I've got DVD Shrink but when I tell it to open files it doesn't even
recognize the bin or cue files.

Is there a way to have DVD Shrink recognice Cue or Bin files ?

Thanks for the help.

I'm no expert, but I think bin/cue files are for CD only. If you want
to burn to DVD you need to convert it to an ISO type of file. Search
the Pricelessware home page for the current flavor of ISO program.
Sorry I can't think of the name of it right off the top of my head
right now!

The Cue and Bin files are probably CD disk image files.
To use them you either burn the image onto a CD, to
recreate the CD contained in the image; or you can mount
the image in a program that simulated a CD drive for that
purpose. www.daemon-tools.cc Is the best known free
image tool.

If you just want to store or transport the image on a DVD
you would burn it as data onto a data DVD. (Just as you
would any other file on your system.)

Luck;
Ken

VCDGear can extract the Mpg file from the Bin file. You must use a
program (such as Nero Vision) to re-encode the Mpg file for burning as a
DVD.

The contents of a VCD Bin file are not DVD compliant - no IFO files,
wrong directory structure, wrong audio bitrate. Even you were to get it
burned to a DVD as is, it wouldn't play.

I can't find where the OP mentions that he has a VCD Bin file,
could you point it out? You realize that there are BIN files that
contain a whole CD worth of data files, none of them video,
much less MPEG.

1. What the OP said was:
"I was wondering if it were possible to burn an image file(cue/bin) to
DVD's using Nero Burning Rom. If so how do you get it to go to DVD. ?
I have been trying it with the version 7 of Nero, but it attempts to
write it to CD only. " If it was a CD worth of data files it would be
wasteful and pointless to burn it on a DVD when a CD would suffice.

2. The OP also said:
"I've got DVD Shrink but when I tell it to open files it doesn't even
recognize the bin or cue files."
DVDShrink is for reencoding DVD9 video files to fit on a smaller DVD5
and it would make no sense to use it for data files.

3. This was posted in a group related to authoring and burning video
files to DVD.

4. The logical conclusion is that the OP has a VCD image he wants to
burn as a DVD. I was pointing out that as such, it is unnecessary to
mount it in a virtual drive when another program will easily extract the
video file for converting to a DVD.

Nevertheless, the statement about VCD Bin files is factual.

What say you, Paul? Are you trying to burn an image of a VCD?
