Default Pioneer DVR3100 - Disk recommendations? - 05-10-2007 , 02:49 PM

I've got a Pioneer DVR3100 that's still going strong *but* I'm having
great problems finding some blank DVD-R disks for it.

I've just run out of my stock of 2x disks that have been working fine
(ordered over a year ago) so I tried an 8x disk but that wasn't
recognised as a valid disk. Dug out the manual and it says the machine
only supports up to 4x

I ordered some 2x disks from ukdvdr.co.uk and the couple I've tried so
far have recorded OK but either not been recognised when it comes to
finalise them and/or not recognised as valid when ejected and reinserted.

Searching around UK suppliers shows 2x and 4x disks to be very rare now
so has anyone got any recommendations for current disks that they've
used and do work? It would be a shame to have replace a great recorder
because I can't get media any more

TIA

Peter

I wouldn't think disc speed should be an issue.

I got my Panasonic when 2x were barely available
in stores, these days I've recorded on and played
various 8x and 16x brands without a single problem.

snip
Sometime a firmware upgrade will enable use of newer disks.
