Default Convertxtodvd stalling on playback - 05-09-2007 , 03:41 PM

A great many of my movies made by converting AVI to DVD using ConvertxtoDVD
are stalling around 75% way through when played on my Sony PVR. These are
DVD+RW discs which don't have a problem playing when I burn a DVD image on
them. The avi conversion is always around 4GB and only one DVD per disc.

However I can play the same DVD even beyond the stalled or stuttering point
if I play it on my computer.

Anyone got any guidance for me on this?

What version of ConvertX? Also what size are your avi files? I add 3 one
hour avi's to ConvertX without any difficulty - ConvertX will compress
whatever you add to 4.3Gb

ConvertXtoDVDvd Ver 2.1.5.173

Example which stalls AVI size is 955,060kB and converted at normal speed

Just re-read your OP and noticed you use DVD+RW. In my experience many of
the DVD players I've had the same sort of problems but when I swapped over
to DVD-RW no problems. Maybe it's a media problem?

Try a different brand of media or a slower burn speed?

Stuart,

My Sony RDR-HX725 specification explicitly states that DVD+RW is suitable
and I have bought and used 50 so far. Maybe they are reaching the end of
their life although none will have been erased more than 10 times. Just
last night I had to finish watching a DVD by playing it on my computer with
its Liteon DVD player.
