Default USB DVDr drive dissapeared! help. - 02-19-2007 , 08:27 AM

My USB DVD rom drive has just "dissapeared" from My Computer, in Device
Manager it has the yellow exclamation mark and says: "A driver (service) for
this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this
functionality. (Code 32)"

any ideas on how to get it back ? ive disabled and enabled, uninstalled and
re installed through device manager, have tired several USB ports that i
know are working, i hear the "dong" noise when its plugged in and out but it
wont show up!

any help appreciated

So i just tried a firends DVD drive that i know is definatly working and
trie it on my PC and i get exactly the same!!
Anyone know what could have happened ?

I get the same thing when I install the Sony Picture Motion Browser Software
and restart the PC. I have to do a disk recovery from a time before the PC
ever saw this software in order to get my DVD back. Let me know if you find
anything out, this is getting old fast.
