Default Any Way I can Read Bad File on CD disk? - 04-23-2007 , 12:41 PM

I have a CD disk containing a 180K file that just will not read from
CD to hard drive (copy). The drive led just blinks and blinks, and
copying stops.

Is there maybe some utility/program that might help here?

Thanks

Jethro

Thanks Paul

I tried it, and it found many, many errors, and ran quite long.
I guess I'm dead.

Thanks anyway

Sorry Jethro, does sound that way. Just a thought but have you tried
the disc on another computer or drive?

What a shame. I've lost a few stuff over time. I try to remember to
re-copy anything I have kept on cd-r every so often, recently found a
bunch of comedy mp3s someone sent me with stuck on paper labels had
corrupted and wouldn't play but that program did manage to recover the
data. Bad when it's one off stuff like photographs etc though :O(

You should be able to recover the tracks with ISoBuster

Might be worth trying CDex (freeware)

http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/features.html

Thanks all.

Cdex looks to me to be just for audio files. My file is a .dat file
that seems to be video - the little bit I can see. I should have
said that.

The files could easily be OK but the TOC damaged (Table Of Contents).
I had a CD that wouldn't read, it would just sit there blinking.....
funny thing was, I went to my computer clicked the CD drive and clicked
explore... it open ok and I was able to extract the files from it.

Being curious I tried again... still wouldn't read read the CD,
behaved the same in the DVD drive and on another computer.

I 'Think' one way this could have happened was that I was burning data
on to the CD and I took it out before it had copied the lead out.

Have you tried a polish..? I use Brasso or Silvo metal polish, don't
like the wadding stuff such as Duraglit or Sivaglit.
