Default K7VTA3 Rev6 Freezing help Please ;-( - 05-29-2005 , 11:15 PM

Just built a K7VTA3 Rev6. PC 2700 Mem. Althon XP ... I am at home and
this box is at the office...so I can not recall exact processor ...
266 bus.

The problem is heat related ... it works fine with the case open.

I have redone the northbridge with artic silver... the processor also
artic silver.

Put a little heat sink on the PLL chip as it felt a little warm.

The case is an enlight front fan blowing in and rear fan blowing out

Case open... MBM reads processor temp a 44C if I close the case the
freeze occurs at 49-50C ... which seems low for this type of problem

Any ideas would be of great help.

Thanks

David

It could be faulty graphics card or RAM that are becoming marginal at
those temps as well. Not always the motherboard components.

I poped the heatsink off the processor. turned out I used the
compound that came on the heatsink... something I generally I don't
do... so I cleaned off that junk and replace it with artic
silver...and the operating temp drop 10 C ;-)

Thanks for you help

David
