Default K7VZA 1.2e .Will an Athlon XP1800+ CPU work albeit at lower freq ? - 12-20-2004 , 06:03 PM

Hi all,
I've got a old K7VZA mobo with an 800 Duron fitted to it. ( tested and runs
fine )

I've also got hold of an 1800+ cpu and want to temporarily swap it with the
Duron just to see if it posts in order to confirm the CPU is okay.

1. Will a 200FSB board br okay with a 266FSB CPU, ie could one or both get
smoked ??
2. If the 1800XP is faulty/fried ( it doesn't appear to be but who knows ),
can it bust an otherwise okay mobo ?

If I can satisfy myself the 1800+ cpu works then I'll find a 2nd hand 266fsb
mobo for it

Heres the data on the mobo:-

thx

There were 2 K7VZA, one that had the KT133 chipset, and one with the
Kt133A chipset. If it is the older KT133 chipset, the 1800 will not work
on it, because the voltages are different.

All I can tell is the mobo is a v1.0. How does this relate to KT vs KtA ?
Any way of telling ?

No, you are out of luck. You need a new motherboard for that CPU. Your
motherboard has the older KT133
