Default Old School BH-6/P3 ?? - 10-05-2006 , 11:10 AM

Hi Guys

I've been running a Pe 650@806 for years and just bought aP3 933 off ebay.
It's a 133 bus and I forgot that my MB maxxes out at 133. Nothing i can do,
right? Is it bad to run my PC-100 ram set at 133 bus speed?

What would be the best choice for my old BH-6? The fastest 100 mhz bus Slot
1 CPU?

thx,

bob

With your motherboard limited to a FrontSide Bus speed of 133 MHz, your
Pentium III 933 is limited to 933 MHz.

It may be time to start over. The only overclocking you can do with a
Pentium III is by raising the FrontSide Bus Speed. The Pentium III 1 GHz
with a 100 MHz FrontSide Bus speed will max out just shy of 1.33 GHz with
a
FrontSide Bus speed of just under 133 MHz, but it will cost you $200 US
used! For that amount you can get a new Pentium D 805, motherboard, and
512
MBytes of DDRAM!

Phil,

How about using a Slocket adaptor? How high could I go then? Or worse
case, how high could I go *not* overclocking with a Slocket?

thx

Phil

I will be moving on next year when Vista is out. I'll build a new system
then. As a long time overclocker (Celeron 300@450 days), I still like to
"play" and push the limits. I guess I just wondered what the limit was on
this old BH-6 board.

thx

It is time to either be satisfied with a Pentium III 933 MHz @ 933 MHz or
move on. It might be possible to rig a Slotket to allow use of a
Tualatin,
but the gain would be small, it might not work, and any extra cost at all
would be spending too much. However, if you do search for more
information
on this, the correct spelling is 'Slotket'. Information on the 'Tualatin'
Pentium III is at
ftp://download.intel.com/design/Pent...s/24976503.pdf .
