Default Overcloclocking GeForce FX 5700LE - 07-27-2005 , 07:39 AM

I have got a GeForce FX 5700LE and would like to know how i go about
overclocking it as i have read that you can overclock it by about 20%
and it is still stable. I am currently only getting about 35-40 fps
when i run the Half Life 2 stress test and would like to get it running
a bit faster if possible. i've got a 3ghz P4 and 1GB ram so the only
thing holding it back is the graphics card but dont have the money to
splash out on a new shiny one.

Any advice how to go about overclicking it would be gratefully
received.

cheers

The 5700LE is a couple of generations old and may not do a lot better, but
you can google for Coolbits for Forceware (a reg entry that you need to
install after each driver update) and give that a try.

Try the newsgroup alt.comp.periphs.videocards.nvidia .
You should get some specific tips there.

What is the game play experience, as opposed to the stress test fps? After
all, when you see a movie, you only see 24 fps, and for US NTSC television,
30 fps.

-Download the newest Forceware driver from http://nvidia.com
-Download Coolbits http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=815
(It unlocks a hidden Menu in your Graphics Card Driver.)
-Download the ATI-Tool http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=725

After installing all of these, go to the Properties section of your FX5700
and increase your Core and Memory Clocks slowly.
I guess you have a Core Clock of 425 and a Memory Clock of 550, which is the
Standard on my MSI FX5700-TD128.
You should first try to "auto detect" the optimal clocks...the one for the
Memory is ok, but the Core can be set much higher than the auto detect says.
(at least on my card)
You cannot make much mistakes because the driver does not accept settings
which are too high, and you always have to test your changes. But be careful
with the "use on startup" option....
I run my Card with 502 Core and 627 Memory Clock with the Standard MSI
Cooler and Arctic Silver 5.

Of course you have to test your settings for artifacts with the
ATI-Tool...you should not have any artifacts for an hour or so, then reduce
your clock-speed for about 5 MHz and it will run flawless.

Cu, Michael

http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=815 has coolbits that will
integrate with the device driver and give you a chance to try and OC it a
bit.
