I have an old Aptiva 2158-270. I just upgrade the memory to the maximum
amount and it is working so much better, but now I am going to try to
upgrade the hard drive but I don't know what the maximum amount it will
hold is. If anyone knows could you please email me at Swpihc1 (AT) aol (DOT) com. I
have been searching IBM web page for days and it doesn't have anything
about the 2158 Series at all.

Maximum hard drive size for your system is 127GB.

This is more of a BIOS limitation then an OS limit. Win95 is limited
to 2GB or smaller partitions. A hard drive of 127GB would require about
65 partitions. Probably possible, but not practical. The 2158 system
came with Win98 installed. Win98 has a 2 terabyte limit. Partitions
can be any size. I currently have a 120GB drive in my Win98 system with
30GB partitions. So, without a BIOS update (which won't happen), the
system is limited to 127GB. There are ways around that though.
Software overlays and controller cards can bypass the BIOS to get pass
that limit. Otherwise, 127GB is it as the system comes from the factory.
