Default Aptiva monitor question - 05-09-2006 , 09:57 AM

I purchased my Aptiva 2142 S35 back in 1998.
The system monitor was/is MM75.
Can you tell me if that monitor could work with any new desktop
computer, other than Aptiva (and other than IBM computer)?

Thanks

Shouldn't be a problem.

thanks.
And would you also know where I could download the 2128 MM75 driver
from (possibly freeware), compatible with WinXP Home?

Aren't you forgetting that:

1) the new computer will need to support the resolution levels of the
monitor?
2) drivers may be required, and may not be available for Win/XP, for
example?

Here are a couple places to try. Unfortunately, I don't see any free
drivers out there for your monitor.

I would think it would work, sure.
I wouldn't count on getting those side speakers to work though, unless you
nigger rig something up.

dear friends, thank you all for your attention/advice.

Let me here submit another question, regarding the driver of my
monitor (recalling that my Aptiva is working under Win98 o.s.).

Control Panel - System - Peripherals - Screens - IBM 2128 MM75
Multimedia - Driver - Properties indicates Microsoft as the driver
supplier, and reports that "No driver file is required nor has been
downloaded for this peripheral": does that mean that I would not need
loading any specific driver to have my MM75 monitor work connected to
any new (WinXP) computer other than IBM Aptiva?

My feeling is that XP will have drivers that will work with your
monitor. I am not familiar with your monitor, so if speakers are
attached to it, you may not get them to work. This is where you might
want to try specific drivers for the monitor. Otherwise, the screen
should work just fine. Do you have an XP system that you can hook it up
to?

given that Win98 works fine with my monitor, including speakers, I
gave for granted that XP would work fine as well ...
On the other hand, I wonder why MM75 drivers are being offered if they
are not required at all ...

good idea, I have a notebook with XP, so I might try and connect it to
my monitor ... hoping that would not be an hazardous trial.
