If not for IBM the local police would be able to fool a judge.

Mine is only nine and still works but I
don't bless IBM and I don't bless the USA.

Bless the people here, at Don5408, at Russ
Norris (think that was his name), and even
the people at IBM's forums way back.

All great people/groups. Don's site has been a lot of help numerous
times. I still drop in every once in a while. I need to add one more
group to that list. Stevehp's group found here:
http://www.personalconfusertechsupport.com/forums/
Seems like a few of the people went over there when Don closed his forum.

Did you C66 actually go bust or did you just
"retire" it?

It went bust. I think the motherboard went south on me. It was a good
system while it lasted. I bought the 2153, used, to replace it. Not as
fast as the kids would like, but it still works pretty good. I did
upgrade the processor to a 500MHz.

As much as the fiasco those 2176s were
(mwave, video "card" issues), I have to say
that the quality certainly was there. I'm sure
if I put all the original parts back in, mine would
still work.

The only thing that died on me was the monitor
and it was my fault. I use to cover the top (to
prevent dust) after using it so all the hot air had
no place to go and melted the innards. Oops : ).

Yea, I did my share of changes to the old system also. I was glad when
I was able to replace that MWave. My monitor died also. The only thing
that is still working from my original setup is the Lexmark printer. Go
figure. :-)

My IBM 2176 is still running strong with some upgrades for about 10 years too.
