Looking for Aptiva 2176 bios

Am looking for an updated bios for a 2176Y01 machine. Current bios is
BFLUSH4H dated 08/15/96.

but model 2176 isn't in the list. Maybe it's too old..?

I have had a look there before but all the BIOS exe files seem to be
removed. The links are dead ends. I think this old pc is headed for the
recycle heap.

Curious. What are you looking for in the updated BIOS? Is there
something specific that the BIOS will give you?

The old one won't let the system boot from a cd (only from a floppy or
HDD) which I want to do to load Ubuntu linux.

which BIOS are you looking for?
on the other link I posted yesterday, the 2176 has 2 files listed depending
on the graphic chipset.... which chipset does your aptiva have?
I have couflash BSTUS4I for the 2159-s90 but don't know how to upload it to
my Web site... (there are 38 files 1.38 mbs...) since it's already
unzipped... etc.
ok I have it also on my deskTop (still intact)

Afterthought:
IF you need the couflash BSTUS4I, I can email it to you.... (it is 1 MB)

It's been awhile since I've had my 2176, but have you tried changing the
boot sequence in your BIOS? I wish I still had my BIOS update for you,
but I erased the disk once I sold my system.

Yep, done that. But the bios doesn't recognise a cd drive. It is a
documented problem.
