Default Hooking up ATX Power Leads in Series? - 02-02-2010 , 07:22 PM

I want to use an ATX power supply as a hobby power supply. I need more
than 12 volts though.

I know the ATX power molex connector has both a 12V and a 5V line. Is
it possible to hook these up in series and get 17V? Would I need a
"dual rail" ATX power supply to do this?

Thanks in advance for any info.

No, all of the outputs are have one side connected to common.
You could take the outputs from -12 and +5, but the negative outputs
typically don't supply much current.
