Delete the WMM32 folder under WINNT. This resolved the modem issue for
me.

I recently attempted to instal AOL 7.0 on my laptop (IBM Thinkpad
Pent. II 366,
128 MB RAM, Windows 2000). Now whenever I start it up I get an
internal modem
error like this:

MWME0001: Modem Internal Error
Primary Code: 5(0x0005)
Secondary Code: 105(0x0069)
File: MWMWIN.C
Line: 4426

Then another error comes up after that, asking me to restart or shut
own the
modem, it gives me an error like this:

MWME0001: Modem Internal Error
Primary Code: 5(0x0005)
Secondary Code: 4294967191(0xfffff97)
File: MWMSPCFC.C
Line: 6111

When I hit restart modem nothing happens. If I hit shutdown modem,
the dialog
goes away, but then the modem doesn't work or anything. When I try
to query
the modem, it fails to respond. When I try to test the modem with
Quicktest,
it gives me "Error accessing the modem!" I tried installing the
newest drivers
for the modem, but it didn't help. I tries uninstalling AOL
completely, but I
still get the error.
