I just discovered this newsgroup ... and looked back very fondly, thinking of my 1st computer-build. I was really proud of my brand new (and very expensive) Matrox G400 Max Dual Head. Games of the day, played at ferocious speeds (for that time remember). The picture quality was superb. Dual monitor set-up was a breeze (my sweet 19" beside a lesser 17", each at different resolutions from the other). Playing DVD's out to my TV was a simple task, producing an excellent picture. Now it just sits on a shelf, waiting for life again. Now, 2-computer-builds later, I have a much faster CPU and video card (oldish now but still ok ... ASUS ti4200 @ 275/600). I don't think the pic quality is as good as my old matrox, and sending a "decent" picture out to my TV is quite a hassle (although I have a stand-alone dvd player for that now). It would still be great for anyone building a dual-monitor-work-station ... just no good for gaming anymore. If you're interested in my good old G400 Max Dual Head (cables, cd, manual) ... post here, and I'll get back to you. Cheers. |
