Default Problem with PCMCIA 4 usb ports - 03-29-2006 , 01:11 PM

Hi,
I bought a pcmcia card with 4 usb, but I have this problem:
On my Celeron 650mhz notebook with windows xp, I plugged it, windows
recognized it and it works well.
On my pentium 150mhz MMX notebook that does not have any usb port (it's a
Siemens Scenic mobile 700) with windows ME, I plugged it, but windows didn't
see it. I tried installing drivers but nothing.
In the hardware list nothing is changed, there isn't neither any ? yellow
item nor usb devices with a ! .
I also tried to connect a usb LED lamp to these ports and it didn't turn on.
The only thing I am sure that the pcmcia slot on the notebook are good,
because if I connect a LAN card or a modem they works well.
What could I do?
Please help me, thank you,bye.

Use a laptop with cardbus slots? I imagine your old one doesn't have
the cardbus capability, therefore the usb card which is cardbus won't
work in it.

I don't know how to check if it has the cardbus capability...
Could you explain me please?
There is any way to make work that card? Maybe installing something as a
driver , or updating bios?
Please let me know, thanks,bye.

If it doesn't have cardbus slots a cardbus card can't be fully
inserted. It will hit the stop and not engage.

If it was fully inserted, it would work like in your other system. It is
99.9% certain that it has PCMCIA slot, not Cardbus and does not meet the
system requirements.
Mike.
