Default IBM Thinkpad 755CE serial ports not responding - 05-22-2007 , 10:41 AM

I want to connect to the internet with my internal modem, but internet
explorer (the windows '95 version) says the modem is being used by
another dial up program. There is no other dial up program. In the
"modems" section of "my computer", the diagnostic program cant open
the port.

I tried using an external modem on the serial port, but both I.E. and
the diagnostic program said the serial port wasn't responding.

What are the correct settings for the serial ports in Easy Setup ? (I
am not using the ir)

What is the correct port for the internal "MWave" modem/sound card in
"Add new Hardware"?

I think these MWave ones are softmodems, i.e. they do not have
a proper modem hardware and therefore do not simply show up
as serial interface. AFAIK you need the right driver for it
in order to get it to work.
