Default Cannot remove AGP card (for upgrade) - 05-17-2006 , 02:27 AM

I recently got a new video card but cannot get my existing (AGP) card out.
The
retention tab is covered up by the video card itself (heat sink & fan stick
out enough to obscure it). I've been told that I should be able to work the
card out, but that hasn't worked so far. The board is an Intel 865GBF, and
the existing card is a PNY 5700 Ultra. I've tried to view the retention tab
from the front of the machine, but I just can't see it. Any suggestions?

Mike

Bigger hammer?

Sorry, couldn't resist. Seems like you should be able to get a
screwdriver in from behind and push the locking tab out. You'll note
that there are two caps in the space where the northbridge heatsink,
the SIMM slots, and the AGP slot come together. If you slide a thin
screwdriver in above the heatsink and right next to the smaller of the
two caps, you may be able to push the tab out.
