Default changed card, monitor doesn't wake up - 10-22-2006 , 10:51 PM

pc chips p4 mobo
intel celeron 2.0ghz
220w psu
384 Ram
windows xp

attempting to install nvidia mx440 64mb geforce4

I installed an Nvidia mx440 64mb geforce4 i had laying around, and it
booted up and ran terrific, ran battlefield vietnam with no hang on
64pl server. when i attempted to restart the computer, the monitor
would not wake up.
upon several tries, i could get it awake and it would subsequently run
fine. however, any time the system is turned off or restarted, the
monitor will not wake up, i don't want to leave the system on all
the time, and would really like to know what is going on with this!

Any help please?

will also add that i am aware that the card calls for a 250w psu.
however, my other system runs a geforce fx5200 with a 200w psu no
problems ever. perhaps that made me overconfident in low-balling the
requirements?

any one with similar monitor-coma issues?
