Default Dual Monitors with one video card and locking the computer - 03-09-2006 , 08:50 AM

Hello. We have recently starting putting a dual port video card in our
IBM Thinkcentre M52 computers. We have disabled the on board video
card and are using the two connections from the dual port video card.
The type of card is the Nvida 208PCI 64 Twin. Everything setup
correctly and seems to work ok except one thing. If we have a program
(any program) open and spanning both monitors, lock the computer (via
ctrl-alt-del and lock computer or the screensaver comes on that is
password protected), then unlock it all the programs that were spanning
both monitors are now back on one monitor. Because of the 'new'
security we have had to add to our company, users are required to lock
their computers when they leave their desk, so we can't tell them to
stop using the lock feature. Also, this happens in any type of system
we have, not just the thinkcentres. Does anyone know of a way to fix
this?? I would greatly appreciate it and so would our users!
Thanks

I actually found the solution. The problem is in Windows itself. You
need to have the nosavesettings dword registry key added to the
registry. If anyone is interested:
HKLM or HKCU
Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies \Explorer

Dword = NoSaveSettings
Value = 0

Restart after adding the key.

Sorry. If it's under HKLM, it's
Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\\Explore r

If it's under HKCU, it's
Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies \Explorer
