Default Samsung 181T / 191T owners: yellow tint on left & right side? - 06-25-2003 , 03:05 AM

Dear fellow Samsung TFT owners,

I'm calling upon your experience to determine whether or not my newly
acquired 181T is a dud. My expectations of this highly regarded/reviewed TFT
screen were quite high, but my current (first) one has a 'flaw' I do not
like.

The problem, as I see it: when viewing a screen that has a predominantly
white background (such as a maximized, empty Internet Explorer, Outlook,
Word, too many to mention), it seems as though the left and right area of
the screen are faintly yellowish, gradually fading to the nice white that
can be seen in the middle. The bottom corners show it even worse, further
into the screen. I'm talking about an area of about 5cm /2" wide.

It annoys the hell out of me. I've never seen it on the smaller TFT's I use
at work, or on my Dell work-laptop. Moving/turning the screen away from me
hardly helps, so I do not think it is related to the viewing angle.

So, other 181t owners, please please let me know if your white background
are a nice evenl white or not. It would make me feel more sure to send the
screen back to where it came from.

Thanks a million!

I liked my 170T so much, I gave it to my wife and bought a
210T. It is perfectly white corner-to-corner. I tested it
just now by opening Word full screen. Have you tried the
'auto' button?

Irv, (and all the others that replied),

Thanks. I think. Because now I will have to go through the hassle of
returning my 181t.
It simply seems that it could be better. Especially since I'm also using it
on DVI, so no signal problems.

Thanks for your input!
I'll provide some feedback in this group later on, when I get a new one.
Hope they have some on stock...

Regards,

Edo
