I bought a Viewsonic VX2000 lcd monitor on eBay. This is a 1600x1200 monitor. I hooked it up with my Windows 2000 system, with an old Number Nine Revolution IV card, but the image quality is crap. There is a faint shadow a few millimeters left that's pretty noticeable when viewing text. I'm not sure whether the monitor is at fault or the video card. I'm using the D-SUB analog input of the monitor. Does that make a difference? Would I get better image quality with a newer card with digital output (the monitor has a DVI-D port)? If the card is the problem, can someone suggest some inexpensive digital video cards? I'm not up on these things and don't have time to educate myself. I don't play games, so I don't need something cooled by liquid Helium. I just want a very crisp, stable image at 1600x1200 with reasonable performance. It would be nice to do video capture, so that would be a plus, but not absolutely necessary. I'm looking for a fairly cheap card though, say under $100 used. |

Windows says it's 60 hz. The monitor says it's 61. Perhaps the video card is not producing a good 60 hz signal and it's screwing up the image.
