I am trying to connect a dell Inspiron 9100 laptop to an apple studio display. Directly connecting the two results in success, or a display on the external apple studio display. However, I want to extend the vga cable between the two. So I have a male-male vga cable. I put a F-F gender changer on one end and thought to extend the vga cable. But when I connect up this extension, the studio display says no signal detected. Have I lost too much of something (voltage, clarity) through the extension? What is the problem here? If I splice the cable together manually, would this help (soldering)? Is there a quality difference in different gender changers that could be the problem? TIA |
