Default Norton Internet Security problem - 04-09-2007 , 06:23 PM

Just recently, I have had to DISABLE Norton Internet Security in order
to get my email. I use Thunderbird as my email client. I don't know if
there is a connection but it seemed to happen after a recent Thunderbird
upgrade (or is it called "update"?).

I also have no idea how or if this affects my vulnerability to viruses
or other attacks. Any idea of what might have caused this?

Thanks,

David A.

I'll give you an honest answer even if not the one you might want.
ZoneAlarm security suite. It doesn't hurt my Thunderbird and gives me
more options for the firewall than Norton did. The Norton may have
better virus and spyware detection but in all truth Norton hasn't been
the top of my list since selling out to Symantec.
I use ZoneAlarm, AVG, Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware, and super-anti-spyware.
They seem to play nicely with each other and each has managed to pick up
things that the others missed.
