Hello I've entered the world of wireless router for my home LAN. I managed to configure and get working a Linksys wireless G router. I've generated a Key during setup and wrote this key down on paper and then put the same key in on the setup of my Laptop wireless setup. Everything works (most of the time) but I have these two questions that are bugging me. 1.The laptop boots up and connects to the linksys connection since that is the one I configured as Preferred, and it is the one I gave the Key, However..... there is another connection that comes up (on the laptop) available called "Wireless" What is this and should I give it the same Key as my linksys connection? There doesn't seem to be anyway to delete it. My whole concern here is security from unwanted access. -----also 2.And on my Desktop under Network connections I have the "Local Area connection" which under properties shows it as my Ethernet card specs. and also I now have another connection shown as "Internet Connection" which under properties shows msmsgs(192.168.1.2:10498) 43240 UDP msmsgs(192.168.1.2:8363) 1506 TCP as being services offered, should I uncheck these?? ---appreciate any info and/or links to pertinent help |

Your wireless card driver scans the air looking for access points, so if there are other beacons in your neighborhood it will list those along with yours. Ignore them. |
