Default pcmcia card freezes up pc - 03-07-2004 , 09:37 AM

Hi,

I have a huge problem with my wireless pcmcia card (D-Link DWL 650+)
on my Compaq Presario 1700 (ME). I installed all the latest drivers
and de-selected all other possible conflicting ports such as IrRed,
Dial-Up adapter, COM1 and LPT1 ports....

as long as the pcmcia socket is enabled (with Texas Instruments
PCI-1410 CardBus Controller 32 bit....) and I put in the card, the
whole system freezes up. As soon as I pull it out again it continues
working normally... if I have the socket disabled it obviously is not
affected. I tried the newest drivers and patches but nothing works.
What is the main reason for windows to completely freeze when you put
in a pcmcia wireless card? I mean the cardbus device status says: this
device is properly working... is there something wrong with the
adapter??

How can I allocate resources to the PCMCIA slot to make it work?

Thanks

Daniel
