The best luck I've had has been with Epson printers - they have four (or six or eight) individual ink tanks, so it's easy to refill only the color that's empty. Stratitec (www.stratitec.com) sells a kit at Sam's club for $19.95 that will refill the six color print cartridges approximately 12 times. They will also sell you an inexpensive tool that allows you to reset the counter chip in each cartridge so the printer knows that the tank is new again. |

For monochrome printing, though, you can't beat an inexpensive laser printer - especially if you don't print often enough to keep the inkjet cartridges from drying out. |

As for Canon printers, they're good for the year they're on guarantee. Afterwards, you'll face one of the bugs they implemented in the printer and, of course, they won't give you the two lines you need to fix it in a matter of seconds. |

I don't intend to buy a color printer, but if I did, I would go for Epson, From what I read, Epson pigment ink is a little more expensive than Canon's, less than HP, and outlast both by many years. The OP might want to take a look at this quick study I made of a paper from Wilhelm Research: http://groups.google.com/groups?as_u...corp.supernews. |

What you learn here is that HP's reviews are slanted: they compare with inks that they know are inferior. (Bob Headrick didn't answer my reply to his message.) As for Canon printers, they're good for the year they're on guarantee. Afterwards, you'll face one of the bugs they implemented in the printer and, of course, they won't give you the two lines you need to fix it in a matter of seconds. And here, I speak from experience. OTOH, I don't know if Epson behaves any differently. Seiko-Epson certainly used to have a reputation. For monochrome printing, though, you can't beat an inexpensive laser printer - especially if you don't print often enough to keep the inkjet cartridges from drying out. No doubt. And, from what I know now, I'd take a closer look at Samsung. GP |
