Default CD Burner writes at 4x instead of 16x!!!??? - 10-21-2004 , 07:26 PM

Hi,

I've been going crazy trying to fix this. I cannot get my burner to
burn at 16x, which is it's maximum speed; it always ends up burning at
4x. I've posted my nero history file so you can see where things go
wrong when it attempts to burn at 16x. It clearly states "burning at
4x instead of 16x". I have this problem with other burning software as
well, so it's not just nero from what I can tell.

My tech gave up on trying to fix it. Nero support hasn't been able to
figure it out either. I also went through a 35 minute tech walkthrough
with a toshiba tech over the phone with all the ideas he could muster.
We've also already covered all of the most obvious questions, such as,
"Are you sure you're using CD-Rs and not CD-RWs?" or "Are you using
the correct write speed CD-Rs?", etc.

The burner is a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K12D, it came with the Toshiba
Satellite laptop from Best Buy. I haven't done anything to the laptop
aside from installing programs since I bought it, no hardware changes.

All the details of one of my average burn sessions are below (I was
burning all jpg photos to this disc, which I usually use the burner
for, so it's not an audio related thing)...
