Default NEC Display out of warranty DIY Repair - 03-28-2005 , 04:10 PM

Hi, A client of mine purchased an NEC 19" LCD from ebay a few months
ago and it worked great for about a month then the backlight died...

I found a replacement backlight and I'm ready to install it- But HERE'S
the problem:

NEC has some sort of 'security' keyhole on the back that I'm guessing
has something to do with why I can't get the back panel off the
monitor.

Anyone know how to get the back panel unlocked with out the sending the
monitor to NEC?

Can I drill out the lock? Help!

zach

Could it be part of the pivot, if the LCD is one of those NEC models
that can be switched between portrait and landscape mode?
Have you removed any labels that could hide screws?
Tried poking around with plastic TV tuner adjusters to see if anything
clicks, in the "keyhole" and around the edges?

Try calling NEC support line? Or ask them to refer you locally? Do you
you have a local display repair shop?

Probably not without the possibility of being unable to put the panel
back together.
