Default Creating DVD VidCaps - 02-01-2004 , 09:46 PM

I'm interested in creating some vidcaps from DVD for a website I'm making
and I wondered if I'd be better off buying A DVD drive or one of those
capture cards that allow video input to my PC. Some of the source material
may only be available on VSH so the card would be cheaper but the DVD (if I
buy a RW device) might be more useful in the future as I do make and edit DV
on my PC. Opinions?

The screen captures from playing the DVD on your PC via a DVD drive will
be straight digital-to-digital, whereas the capture card will involve
going from digital to analog through cables and then back to digital.
Thus, one would expect that using a DVD drive will produce a better
image quality.

Explain why this is a Windows XP issue. "I have Windows XP" isn't a valid
response. This has NOTHING to do with Windows XP. Find a more appropriate
froup.

Most likely because he figured those that frequent this group would be
knowledgeable.

However, with full time losers like yourself, he'll not get answer; what
goes around, always, eventually comes around troll. Your sure to reap the
results of your massive self-interest. I'm only sad that I will not be there
to witness your humiliation. What a shit head.

I myself an not skilled in the art of the DVD/video issues.

The OP would have been much better off asking in a newsgroup where the
subject wasn't off-topic, like some of the multimedia or DVD newsgroups.

Space here is wasted enough by the trolls, and the absolute lack of sense of
some with valid XP problems. This group really doesn't need OT questions.

Y'all do realize you're crossposting this to comp.periphs, yes? It's
arguably a question about peripherals, and thus on topic here on
comp.periphs.

Followups set ot alt.windows-xp, since discussions about what's on- or
off-topic in alt.windows-xp are definitely off-topic on comp.periphs.
