Iomega paralell zip drive installation

Hi all,

I have an Iomega zip100 drive that I'm trying to get my WinXP Pro
machine to recognize. When I first setup the XP machine it recognized
the zip drive and the drive worked. I haven't unplugged it since then
but when I went to use it today I couldn't access the drive through My
Computer (icon was there but did nothing when double-clicked).

After verifying that the cables were all seated properly I rechecked My
Computer and the zip drive icon vanished shortly after double-clicking
on it! I tried ejecting the disk I had inserted and... nothing. The
yellow light is on (along with the green) and won't go off --
presumably meaning that the drive is being accessed.

I tried uninstalling the zip drive in Device Manager after finding that
it had a "Code 10" error and reinstalling the drivers downloaded from
www.iomega.com but it's still not finding the zip drive.

Is there any way to get the disk out of the zip drive safely?

Is there any way to get this zip drive installed properly?
