Default Logitech MX700 and other wireless periphs. - 09-06-2003 , 12:08 PM

Hi Folks,

I'm just curious if anyone else has experience problems with the
Logitech MX700. I've been a long standing ranter and raver about
logitechs kit and have, till today, had no problems. I was over the
moon when the rather expensive MX700 turned up (wireless optical) but
was very quickly annoyed by the fact that it was interfering with my
Logitech Cordless Itouch keyboard. When I got the itouch I opted to go
for the cordless mouseman wheel as well. Sadly, the mouse and keyboard
seem unhappy to work with each other. When typing on the itouch
keyboard, or pressing any amount of keys while moving the mouse, the
mouse will pause for a second. If I go into notepad and type in i.e.
asdasdasd then the mouse will not move until I'm done typing...

Has anyone else noticed this kind of problem? This is with the
following spec hardware;

Motherboard: Abit KR7A-133R
DirectX: 9
Mouse: MX700
Keyboard: Logitech Itouch (though now using an old MS one)

If anyone can shed any light on this or share their experiences then
it would be greatly appreciated. I'm yet to speak with Logitech about
this but will be giving them a call at the earliest opportunity.

Regards,

Gavin Conway

I've been in touch with Logitech about this and apart from the
helpdesk bloke to being none too bright he managed to suggest the
following to get this sorted;

1) Try changing the channels on both the mouse and the keyboard (tried
this, didn't work)

2) Take the batteries out of the keyboard and mouse and make a contact
between the positive and negative connections in the device. Thus
discharging it completely. Then, put the batteries into one device at
a time and then get it to reconnect to the appropriate reciever. (I'm
yet to try this, but, from what he was saying it seems as though some
of their devices will say that they have changed channel and then
won't. )

I will feedback more if I actually managed to get this sorted. Though
I'm tempted to simply send the MX700 back and then buy the Duo set
that comes with their new keyboard.. Last resort option though..

Hi Gavin,

Yes, much to my disgust, after only just completing a new build P4
with all the latest periphs etc, a very similar problem is happening.

Mine appears more related (frequent) to the switching between users in
XP Pro. Am on the web now reviewing your info as well as latest tech
docs at Logitech. Downloaded newest Mouseware, not yet installed...

Keyboard is locking only sometimes, but mouse locks up if I change
user, and not re-boot.

Also, I have moved a 900mhz panasonic cordless phone away from the PC
also. (Doesn't appear to be a major contributer, but hey, its worth a
try)

Regards Craig
