Hi, I currently have a big problem with a driver of a smart card reader (USB). It's from SCM Microsytems, type STR 391. I have a brand new Windows XP SP2 on my PC. I am able to install the newest driver (v 1.64) without any problems. The installation test software says the following: The firmware update program says: No STR391 connected to the PC! (--> ???) It seems that the drivers are all installed correctly, but somehow Windows doesn't find the reader itself. I checked my USB ports, but they are all working fine. The reader gets power and is beeping ;-) I tried to uninstall and install the driver again - nothing. I tried to install the driver manually (without the installation program) - no way. I tried several USB ports for the smart card reader - the result stayed the same. My question is: what else can I do to solve the problem? Are there any other issues known with the smart card readers of SCM Microsystems running on Windows XP? Has anyone perhaps heard of this problem? I hope that anyone of you can help me out...please! Otherwise I can't do any home banking, and I don't want to get any further mail from advocats :-) If you want to get details of my problem, just let me know. |
