Default USB 2 enclosure kit XP problems - 11-20-2003 , 06:10 AM

Dear all,

thank you for spending a bit of time on this email!

A friend of mine has recently bought a Belkin usb 2.0 enclosure kit
(powered externally) to fit in an IDE Seagate Barracuda 120GB
(previously formated on another XP machine). All settings are correct
(ie following the instructions, like put the drive as master...).
Meanwhile he tryied to plug the enclosure kit on his XP home laptop
but it didn't recognise it.
Then, I tryied on XP pro. It recognised the enclosure kit and the hard
drive but didn't allow me to access the drive ("access denied").

Could anyone give me any hints about those two weird Windows/USB
behaviour?

Many thanks

Thierry

The only thing I could think of is uprgading to the SP-1 for Windows
XP. Apparently that fixes many USB problems.

Hope this helps
