Failing that, are the old style replacements still available? Or should I buy a real Epson cartridge or two, and then get a refill kit? |

I have the subject printer, and have used 'compatible' cartridges in it for years without any serious problems. These cartridges have been the type where you peel off a seal from the top edge, and just pop it into the cartridge carrier and off you go. Recently, I ordered some new cartridges, and they are not the same style at all. These require a hole to be punched into the cartridge. The printer does NOT seem to recognize these at all. I have tried two for them, and I keep getting a solid red 'empty' light. (This is for black cartridges. I haven't tried the color ones yet.) FWIW, the cartridge I removed ran out of ink so I popped one of these in before the warning light came on. But as soon as I popped it in, I got the red light. So, is there anything I can do to resolve the issue with these cartridges? I hate to throw them away. Failing that, are the old style replacements still available? Or should I buy a real Epson cartridge or two, and then get a refill kit? - Marshall who is tired of not having print capability |

Often a fraction of the price of Epson shop ones. You'll also find non-OEM ones listed so you have to read the listing carefully. Some OEM ones are past the use by date on the pack, but as they are foil sealed they work fine. |

It is supposed to be able to reset various things such as page usage counters, cleaning cycles, and so on. Foil sealed older OEM cartridges can be gotten cheaply enough. I do see them on ebay. But how old is too old? Thanks for your input. |
