Not exactly a printer problem, but related! I have a Canon FB630P parallel scanner that still works well. Recently due to IRQ conflicts caused by other devices, I had to remove the dedicated LPT2 interface card and change to a pass through connection to the printer. The parallel port now connects to the scanner and then from the scanner to the printer. This works fine for printing (never a problem), but if I use the scanner, it works just once. Then the scanner software reports that the port (LPT1) is in use. (The Parallel port may be used by another application. Error code 0x0006080). If I try to use the printer, it works normally - no error message. It seems that the printer or the scanner does not release the port properly. If I shut down completely and then restart, I get to make one more copy and again the port is in use. Making copies is a slow process! The printer is a Deskjet 870cxi. O/S is Win2K. Any suggestions for a cure or work-around would be appreciated. |
