I have a Hp Deskjet 5650. The computer's OS is Windows XP Home. The computer is an Hp pavilion 523n, Since the USB ports on the computer are 1.0, I added an internal USB card to get to 2.0. The printer is connected to the 2.0 usb port. When I open the printer assistant and try to check the ink levels the levels appear blank and this message appears: " The computer is unable to establish two-way communication with the device." The printer prints just fine. What if anything can I do to establish this two-way communication and see the ink levels? -- Mike |

In any case, unplug the printer, remove the driver and install the driver from HP's site at: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...0 5980&os=228 |

[This followup was posted to comp.periphs.printers and a copy was sent to the cited author.] In article <xD35g.1$o%6.0 (AT) fe10 (DOT) lga>, mwos (AT) optonline (DOT) net says... I'm not certain if the printer actually supports USB2, and I doubt it would print any faster with it if it did. -- If there is a no_junk in my address, please REMOVE it before replying!
