Default Straight-through laser? - 03-14-2007 , 01:59 PM

Has anyone any recommendations for a mono laser printer with the
option of a straight-through paper path? I have some membership cards
to print and the card curls in a regular printer.

TIA
Richard

You should have asked me a fortnight ago, I just got rid of a Brother
H-1050. You might find one on eBay I suppose, but they've not been
available new for quite some time.

Oops typo that should read Brother HL-1050.

A good printer, but consumables are becoming hard to find now as well.

Not a great printer, but you might look for a Lexmark E310 (or its Samsung
equivelant, as it was built by that company). Toner is still aviable for it.

They don't show it with paper but it feeds at the back from the top.

I should have added that toner is quite expensive for it, around $85.
I think I saw the printer on eBay, but I wouldn't get it unless the cart
was at elast half full.

The old Apple LaserWriters and HP Laserjet II's are straight
paper path flatbed , clam-shell design. Built like a
battleship, weigh a ton, and HP OEM toner still available
(retail or on eBay). Excellent print quality.
Takes card, but depends on width of card how thick you can go.
Also good for envelopes due to flat paper path.

LaserJet 4000/4050/4100/4200/4300. There are others, but it probably
depends on what you want to spend. Also, the paper path on a lot of
"straight through" printers isn't exactly straight, it's just not curved
very much. Usually not a problem for printing thin card stock.

Thanks for all the input guys. I have met a used printer dealer local
to me who said I'd to go and take some card stock and we'll try it on
a number of different printers. That should be good!

Test with the width of stock you wish to use.
My clamshell flatbed straight path, dislikes thick full
width A4 (UK) but reduce the width and it takes
thicker stock.
