When I scan with my Nikon LS-4000 and generate 130MB 14-bit per color raw (.NEF) files, when they are opened in Adobe Photoshop CS (CS1), they are 8-bit. Does CS3 open them as 14 (or 16) bit? Chuck Tribolet |

In article <134a3onpbp20oe6 (AT) corp (DOT) supernews.com>, triblet (AT) garlic (DOT) com says... I cannot speak for CS1 (suspect it is the same), but my Photoshop CS2 opens NEF files in its ACR plugin (Adobe Camera Raw), which has a selectable choice near the bottom of its window where you specify if ACR is to output 8 bit or 16 bit images. -- Wayne http://www.scantips.com "A few scanning tips" |

CS1 doesn't have that option. Looks like there's some CS3 in my future. This is what you need at present, you can batch convert to DNG, open raw, adjust then open it in PS CS1 with limited support for 16 bit stuff. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloa...jsp?ftpID=3588 "Wayne" <nospam (AT) invalid (DOT) com> wrote In article <134a3onpbp20oe6 (AT) corp (DOT) supernews.com>, triblet (AT) garlic (DOT) com says...
