I have to replace my old 7-year old scanner and am considering either a Microtek ScanMaker s400 or a Canon CanoScan LiDE70. I would appreciate opinions or recommendations. Thanks! Bill |

The Microtek uses a CCD sensor, which I feel is much better. Any flatbed scanner that has a very low profile, like the LiDE70 does, usually uses a CIS. I've used both brands of scanners....I used to use Microteks, now I use a Canon 9950F. The MicroTeks did a good job, but I had some problems with them, mainly something on my computer was corrupting the scanner software. I got tired of trying to find it, so I just bought the Canon. If you have a little extra money, I'd suggest the Canon 9950F over the MicroTek, but if money is tight, and you need to choose between the two you mentioned, I'd opt for the MicroTek. Talker |
