Default PCMCIA Firewire Cards known to work with Nikon LS4000 - 02-21-2007 , 11:14 AM

I need to get a PCMCIA (well, CardBus, really) Firewire card to use
with my Nikon LS4000 scanner. Nikon's website
strongly recommends using the supplied PCI adapter cards, which of
course won't work. What PCMCIA Fireware cards are known to work with
the LS4000

Since Firewire is a connection standard, I would think any CardBus Firewire
card would work just fine.

All you need is the card and the driver software for your OS.

In theory, yes, any card should work. But I have a vague
recollection of problems (probably of Nikon's making), so I'd like to
find
a card known to work.

My recollection was correct, the LS-4000 is picky about the Firewire
card:

What a load of rubbish any good card should work. Make sure that you
don't pick one up from a bundled package - these, I seem to recall, have
some limited functions.

I have been using an LS-4000 with a Dell 4-pin connector, a
StarTech.com 2-port IEEE-1394 Firewire Cardbus, and a LaCie 3-port
Firewire 800/400 card (actually Texas Instruments firmware) with no
problems. My software is both VueScan and Nikon Scan (the latest
version).
